Why Choose a Double Sided Mattress

There are many reasons why you should consider looking for a quality double sided mattress for sale, and here are just some of them.

Durability

Mattress manufacturers often say that a non-flippable mattress can last just as long as a double sided mattress for sale.

While it is correct that the mattress manufacturing process has come a long way, the life span of double sided mattresses is still as much as two times longer than that of single sided ones.

Possessing the ability to flip your mattress on a regular basis diminishes the possibility of body impressions forming on the mattress.

Also, as most double sided mattresses are made using a coil system which creates the center of the mattress, the entire construction is sturdier, making for a more resilient sleeping surface.

Value

Single sided mattresses are usually a bit less expensive. But, the initial price of the product is not the only thing to consider when searching for a perfect double sided mattress for sale.

Yes, you might pay a bit more in the beginning, but just think how much money you are going to save by not having to replace your mattress as quickly as you would a single sided one.

Also, not all double sided mattresses are as expensive as people may think. Some are just a fraction more than their one sided counterparts, with no difference in quality.

Comfort

This is one of the most frequently disputed facts about double sided mattresses. People either claim that the single sided mattress is superior in terms of comfort, or that there is no difference at all.

However, double sided mattresses offer greater usable sleeping surface. This comes from the way they are built. Because they need to have two sides, the surfaces are thicker and wider.

Also, greater sleeping comfort is connected to the sole fact that it has two sides. If one side begins to develop body impressions, simply flip it for a good-as-new sleeping environment.

It’s greener

Taking into consideration the greater life span of double sided mattresses, it becomes clear that they are, in fact, rather green.

Yes, manufacturing double sided mattresses also uses natural resources. However, as they last longer, it means that those ever precious resources are not used as often. And, by correlation, fewer resources are used in the production.

Versatility

Most modern flippable mattresses have different firmness levels, meaning that each of the sides is different.

This makes a double sided mattress for sale extremely versatile, as you can choose the firmness that suits you best.

What’s more, buyers say that these mattresses are perfect for guest rooms. Different people are used to different mattresses, and with a double sided one, you can create a perfect guest environment for anybody.

Why Some Mattresses Sleep Hotter Than Others

Do you suffer from sleeping hot? Did you know that there are many factors in determining the heat retention of your mattress? That is what I investigated in order to condense the information for you here today! In my research, 3 themes were consistent, join me as I explain how mattress firmness, the weight of the sleeper and the mattress type have an influence on how hot one sleeps. Welcome to the one stop shop for Heat Retention.

Mattress Firmness and Heat Retention

First up is how mattress firmness affects the heat retention. The level of firmness your mattress is directly correlates to how temperature sensitive it will be. Meaning a firmer mattress will sleep cooler. The reason a firmer mattress will sleep cooler is because the temperature of the bed is linked to the airflow capability of the mattress. A firmer mattress is less forgiving to the persons curves. A plush or soft mattress will significantly fold or bend to meet the persons curves. When this happens, the airflow around the person is restricted. When the airflow is restricted the mattress will have a higher degree of heat retention.

Sleeper Weight

Next, we see how the weight of the sleeper is correlated, too. People that are on the heavier side of the spectrum have a tendency to sleep hotter. It has to do with the principle of airflow we looked at earlier. A heavier person is going to sink more into a mattress than a lighter person will. That action of sinking will restrict the airflow thus making the mattress retain heat creating the perfect conditions for a hotter bed. Also, when a heavier person tosses and turns around at night, they require more energy to move than a lighter person does. As we know remember junior high, energy is heat and that heat is transferred to your mattress.

Mattress type: open cell vs closed cell

Lastly the type of material that a mattress is made of is a substantial indicator of how hot the mattress is going to sleep. Traditionally, some mattresses sleep hotter than others. That is dependent on how the material is structured; if it is open or closed cell. Let’s look at the difference between open and closed cell structures.

Open cell vs closed cell

When it comes to open cell vs closed cell materials, the biggest difference comes from how the cells are composed. In open cell materials the cell walls have been broken allowing air to fill up the material, thus conducting airflow through the material that allows the sleeper to sleep cool. Closed cell materials are best used as insulators, as the unbroken cell walls become highly effective in not letting substances pass through it. Meaning the sleeper will sleep hotter.

Summary

All in all, heat retention is caused by a mixture of these three factors: 1. Mattress firmness 2. Sleeper weight 3. Mattress type: Open cell vs closed cell. In learning about these aspects, you’ll be more prepared for your next purchase of a new mattress, or have more insight on your current mattress.

Custom Mattresses

Heart mattress - Mattress Store in San DiegoDo you have some special design in mind for your bed, but are afraid that you won’t be able to find a suitable mattress for it? Well, fear no more. There are specialized companies which design custom made mattresses to fit your needs. And if you have always wanted to do something a bit different with your bed, but simply don’t have an idea, here is a list of some atypical custom mattresses.

For all your custom mattress needs, Mattress Makers is the premier mattress store in San Diego. If you can dream it, we can build it.

Round mattresses

Whether you are really into having your own round bed, or you are furnishing a hotel room, this unique shape is not something you are likely to find on the free market. However, custom mattress makers can build one for you from scratch. And if you choose right, you won’t break bank more than is reasonable.

Heart-shaped mattresses

This romantic shape is ideal for newlyweds, or anyone who still feels like one. Additionally, various love-themed hotels would be a prime customer for this design. As the heart is a particularly tricky design, with all the curves and edges, only skilled mattress makers should be considered for building one.

Boat mattresses

Boats often do not have sleeping quarters which are comparable to regular land beds. This is why they often have different bed dimensions. What this means for a prospective boat owner is having a tailor made mattress to suit the pre-existing sleeping quarters. This can be a great thing, since you can build one from the ground up, or rather, the water up. You get to choose the materials and colors which are going to be used.

RV mattresses

What was said about boats is true for RVs as well. Likely even more so, since the sleeping section is likely to be even smaller. A custom made mattress is an ideal opportunity to be involved in the whole process of mattress making, and ensures that you get what you want for your RV. Be as comfortable in your mobile home as you would be in your stationary one.

Big mattresses

Have you ever wanted a really big bed? Not the king size one, even bigger than that? If you can build it, a mattress maker will make a matching mattress, if you pick the right company to make your dream come true, that is.

Small mattresses

Similarly to the exceptionally large mattresses, really small mattresses are hard to come by in regular mattress stores in San Diego. However, if you have your mind set on having one, who’s to say that you can’t have it. Custom mattress makers can create one especially for you, to your exact specifications. Whether you want it for a bassinet you built yourself, or for a pet bed, your dreams can become reality.

Themed beds

Nowadays, very few things are fixed and cannot be customized. From cars to PCs, we change everything to suit our needs and desires. So why not beds as well. Some intrepid people have already done things like this. Star Wars fans have designed mattresses in the shape of the Millennium Falcon; hardcore patriots can now sleep on a mattress shaped like the USA.

Mattress Makers is a company which can create custom mattresses to your liking, and for a reasonable price at that. What’s more, the materials which go into the mattress are of the finest quality and you get to pick the type of mattress you prefer.
